Self-Love and Skivvies : A Roundup of Fun Lingerie
Sure, many people are salty about Valentine’s Day. But it’s never been about even mostly about romance for me. I love love! I love hearts, flowers (duh), candy, sparkles, and pink! It’s the cutest holiday ever. Cards and stamps and mail — Valentine’s Day is when the whole world comes around to acknowledge and participate in all of my favorite things. Lingerie is also something I’ve developed quite a passion for in my grown up years. Ask my college professors about my writing projects! XD
Let’s talk about underwear. Skivvies. Knickers. First, if you don’t know Cora Harrington of The Lingerie Addict, get on it! Her work addresses everything that’s wrong with the fashion and beauty industries, and I owe much of my knowledge and discoveries to her. Give her a follow // check out her book!
Okay, now let’s look at some undies.
Above features a design I am most excited about! This ice cream embroidery is one of the most fun fabrics I’ve ever seen. In fact, I am having a custom pair of high waist bottoms made by the artist themself! Check out SADA’s current collection and don’t hesitate to reach out to Sarah if you aren’t seeing the style/cut you want. The design process for custom work has been fun!
Satin Boxers from Savage X Fenty (Rihanna’s line, if you didn’t know), in two Ken-doll type heart prints. Corny or cute: what’s the difference sometimes, amiright? The middle item is a luscious velvety boxer brief (more fitted) from Solstice Intimates. Their collection for Vday is inspired by Shakespeare. Overall, Solstice Intimates has great size ranges, size guides, and some really unique bodysuits etc.
Fluer du Mal is a brand I’ve recently discovered due to my obsession and hunt for quirky elements and unique embroidery. A designer called Mimi Holliday used to be an icon in this way — look up Kitty Goodnight and Swan Lake by her. But anyway, Fluer du Mal has a trademark “Lily” lace collection and also several iterations of pretty cool and colorful florals. Obviously the bananas above are…. bananas! Love how silly and fun that design is. The butterflies are really sweet too. And then a collection mostly out of stock, which is heartbreaking, is their embroidered BUNNY designs as well as some with ice cream embroidery. There’s some cute cherry stuff, and pretty funny astrological sign undies. Overall, they’re creative, but their limited size range sucks and they’re spendy. But, KILL ME with that new tiger set though!
Cacique is Lane Bryant’s lingerie line. The romper above with its little hearts and then embroidered cherries just breaks me! I am not in their size range so will just admire it and hope that one of you buys and enjoys it!! Then the Romeo tank is another from Solstice Intimates’ new line: click here for the full Sacred Heart collection.
Pretty sure the above are about as Vday as you can get!! The kiss design on the TORRID piece is adorbs, and the tops/bottoms are sold separately there. Take a peek at the / bra /options / they have to coordinate! There are other underwear cuts as well, but this one is the most fun. As for the Love, Vera design, it’s sold as a 3 piece set. I am so obsessed with the confetti hearts on this, and of course, the color. Love, Vera also has bodysuits in this collection if you like a one-piece!
For those of us who like darker colored underthings, a few recent favorites. Playful Promises has great size ranges and a wide range of collections that are sets but sold separately, which I think is always wise as a company and certainly appreciated by customers. The Noriko Crane pattern is really beautiful, the birds being quite subtle though. I miiiiight have purchased this bra for myself; I can’t pass up a good jewel tone, and those shoulder caps just did it for me. As for the next item, the black pair of undies: I love the contrast of a “sporty” stripe and a very delicate eyelash lace; all on a high-waist thong– perfection. Pretty Little Thing also offers in red. And then, let’s talk about Jordan de Ruiter. Their Etsy shop has so many items I am lusting after. The bees, the space one – Hello Ms Frizzle! – and the velvet ruffle shorts. Ah! Love this maker.
We’re going to leave on a high note. Evgenia is a brand known for beyond excellent quality, customer service and fabrics. These hearts are totally one of their signatures. The bed jacket can be outerwear as well as a boudoir piece. The cut of the high waist knickers are, in my opinion, one of the best styles best for everyday wear. Full bottom coverage means a more secure and comfortable fit when I’m out and about in any high waist bottoms or skirts. If I had a million dollars (cue the terrible, near-90s song), I’d buy not the green dress, but this red one.
